The Noise Next Door show
These are our self-titled shows that can literally be tailored to anything you want them to be. They can range from a 20 minute set to an hour and a half and everything in-between,
and will always include our, and our fans’ (!), favourite short-form improvisation games. These 3-6 minute long games will include scenes, songs and sketches based solely on
suggestions from the audience. This is our most common mode of performance, as we can operate in virtually any space that contains an audience who yearn for mirth and joy. These
shows can also contain long-form improv – more elongated, complex and episodic games that can last up to 45 minutes on their own.

Improphecy Chronicles show
The Future is unclear… but there are those, with the power to predict it. In this hilarious new show to be premiered at the Edinburgh Festival in August 2008, the audience’s lives
are transformed into scenes, songs and stunts in the blink of an eye by the razor sharp wits of The Noise Next Door. In this one hour spectacular, we will perform a variety of
short-form improv games tailored completely around one (or more) members of audience. The show is so entitled as it will chronicle the life and times of these lucky audience members,
plucked randomly at the beginning of the show. Their inclusion will be key in every game, whether they choose random scenes for us to play out or whether we portray their own life as
accurately as possible is ultimately up to them. This show is hugely interactive as it is not just the chronicled audience members who dictate the action. As always, the rest of the
audience are just as pivotal in deciding proceedings.
Perfect for an evening of comedy in a larger theatre venue, or even for a specific social or business event.
Come in to our world where nothing is scripted, nothing is planned and nothing will ever happen twice. What will your Improphecy be?
-
Facebook show
Specifically for large party bookings or a one off evening of entertainment for a club or society, the Facebook Show uses the latest social website phenomenon as its foundation for an
evening of hilarity. The show will use your Facebook profiles to create improvised madness based entirely on specific members of the audience, so expect the surreal, the sublime, the
ludicrous, the ridiculous and a huge heap of embarrassment as we delve deep into the lives of you and your closest friends…
It is crucial to the Facebook show that the venue has internet access and projection capabilities.

Schools workshops
Members of the Noise Next Door have been teaching improv for many years, and now we bring our skills to your school in a range of specifically engineered workshops. As with all of our
events, we can tailor our workshops to your explicit wants and needs, but below is a list of what we generally offer. All of our workshops are built around the National Curriculum
specifications for English and Drama, and these curriculum links, along with a detailed lesson plan, are always provided to the school and relevant teachers in advance.
We take students from Year 7 and above, and the level and depth of teaching of course depends on the year-group as does the number of students able to take part in each session. We
take a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 50 for any one workshop and there will never be more than 10 students per teacher. What we teach will improve the students EIS’s (Essential Improv
Skills) which include spontaneity, creativity, physicality, peripherals, timing, listening, mime, characterisation, clarity, rhyme and of course teamwork and confidence. Any student
that is unwilling to play or perform is perfectly at liberty not to, but the workshops are generally a lot of fun and promote silliness and the rejection of embarrassment, and so we
have a great record of inclusion with normally shy and retiring students.
2 Hour workshop
Perfect for an after-school event, this workshop focuses on the confidence, team-work and general EIS’s of the students. The session begins with a demonstration of some of our most
influential short-form improvisation games, followed by physical, vocal and creativity based warm ups. We then split the students into smaller teams, dependant on the overall size of
the group, and each improver teaches their group one of our games. Having completed at least two rotations and therefore having learnt at least two games, each student will then get
the chance to demonstrate their new skills in front of their peers in a performance at the end of the session.
Half day workshop
The half-day workshops are around 4 hours long and are an extension of the 2 Hour format. The students get to try out 5 games as opposed to 2 or 3, and there is the opportunity to
perform in the small showcase at the end of the session in a variety of games as opposed to just the one. We delve deeper into the mechanics of the EIS’s and get them to focus more
diligently on what they are doing and why.
Full day workshop
Great for a half-term or even a weekend event, the full day workshop includes far more detail than its shorter counter-parts. The theory of improv will be explored, as with the children
we try to ascertain why what they do is amusing. The performance at the end of the session will be larger-scale and we will even include the teachings of our more complex singing games
involving our musician.
Extended, term long workshop*
These workshops are a regular string of 2 Hour sessions spread once weekly throughout an entire term. They’ll include 8-10 lessons in which the students will be able to glean their
improv skills to a significant level. Students will be taught a massive array of games and skills and the term will culminate in a large-scale performance to friends and family.
*Due to the far more in-depth, specific, and individual nature of these workshops, we can only cater for a maximum of 10 students.

Corporate
The Noise Next Door are also available for full or half day corporate training workshops, which use improvisation techniques to develop communication, confidence, team building and
leadership skills to name but a few. These workshops are created entirely around the needs of your company based on the aims you hope to achieve; whether that be to improve presentation
skills, hone employees’ abilities to close sales or a complete overhaul of your working atmosphere. By discussing your aims with our company producer, we can create a package to suit you.
